We ended up staying at a resort called Poseidon in Ao Tannot. We had two little huts, and a main dining area with a deck on top, all of which overlooked a little beach. There were a few other resorts off to the sides, and on any day maybe 10 people were around our little spot...Pretty quiet. I could have stayed here forever. The beach was all coral, and you could walk out 20 ft and be at a coral reef. We did a lot of snorkeling right there. You could also get little kayaks and go around the island and snorkel elsewhere, which we did too. I managed to cut my foot pretty well on some shells at one point. There were little stray cats everywhere, that had free reign of the place.

For two and a half days, we played on the beach / in the water all day, then ate dinner by dusk on the deck with the other people staying there. The few thai people who worked there basically spent their days cooking, getting drunk and doing the minimal amount of upkeep needed. It was a beautiful little spot. I was sad when we left on the third day, to get the ferry to Ko Samui.
